Kingdom Principles

The theme for this year is Kindgom. Below are the monthly topics.

Foundation

Matthew 6:33
We must seek after the kingdom. To seek is to go after the Kingdom. It would not come to us easily. Our attitude matters. Instead of going after things,we must repent(change our minds) and pursue the Kingdom above any other thing. The Kingdom is not a democracy. It is a MONARCHY. We have a King. He has sovereign power. He is Lord and so we must surrender to His Lordship. God has been King from the beginning. If He is King then we must worship Him. Our worship is seen in our lifestyles and not just songs. God is royalty.
We must know we are worshipping Him at all points in our lives. OBJECTIVES:

  • (i) What does it mean to seek the Kingdom?
  • (ii) What does it mean for God to be Lord?
  • (iii) How do we worship God, our King?

Kingdom Foundation

Culture

The values of every King determines the way people live in a Kingdom. The King’s essence is what gives shape to the Kingdom. The King’s essence in our Kingdom is love. Love is the supreme culture of the Kingdom. We in the Kingdom must be known by love because that is the culture of the Kingdom of God. We must walk in love always because God’s love is shed abroad in our hearts. The extent to God’s love for us is a King dying on a cross. The God kind of love cannot break our hearts. The walk of God is a walk of love. We would know whether we are in the Kingdom if we love. No matter what we say,no matter what we believe,no matter what we do,we are bankrupt without love. In our time, many people think love is sex. Sex was created for a purpose and not for pleasure. Pleasure is the gift from the King. Deep down everybody is the search for intimacy and not sex. OBJECTIVES:

  • (i) What is the culture of the Kingdom?
  • (ii) What is the King’s essence?

Righteousness

The source of our right standing is based on the total obedience of Christ to God. It was his death that restored our relationship with God. He died for us so we could become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 15:21) We don’t have to add up to Jesus’ righteousness. We look at how Jesus obeyed the Father and follow in his steps of obedience. The key to our freedom is understanding that our righteousness is based on Jesus. Righteousness is a gift from God. We don’t become righteous because we were born into a Christian family, we become righteous because Jesus took our place on the cross.

Discipleship

After Jesus preached about discipleship, he went on to raise disciples. A disciple is a learner or a student. The approach of Jesus to world evangelism was through discipleship. He spent time teaching them. The initial call of Jesus was for men to come and follow him. (Mark 1:16-17) Before he ascended to Heaven, Jesus gave a command to His disciples to go and make other disciples. (Matthew 28:19-20) Our mandate as followers of Jesus is to go and make Christ-like disciples. It is one thing to master the subject of discipleship and another to transfer these theories into everyday life. A true disciple looks like his master. A Christ-like disciple is a learner who accepts the teachings of Christ not only in belief but also in lifestyle. There is no such thing as instantaneous discipleship. It is not a single step process. One must commence a walk of discipleship in a moment, but the first step must lengthen into a lifelong walk. Discipleship is the true path to growth. Many people who respond to altar calls go back to their old ways of life after a while mainly because they have not been discipled. Discipleship cannot be substituted. There is no other option to true discipleship.
OBJECTIVES:

  • (i) Why discipleship?
  • (ii) Marks of a true disciple?
  • (iii) What does it mean to follow?

Influence

Scripture References (Matthew 5:13-14; 13:33-34)
We as followers of Jesus are the light of the world. Light always influences darkness. We are called as disciples to influence our society wherever we go or find ourselves. We cannot live in isolation from the world but we can affect the world wherever we go to. We are ambassadors of the Kingdom of God. We are special people with a special assignment. Our lifestyle must represent that of heaven. We cannot influence the world when we live like them. We must be different if we are going to influence them. Influence is not just about making a lot of noise. It is not just about programs and forwarding messages. The world and people are influenced when we live as children of light. (1 Timothy 4:12) We must be examples wherever we find ourselves. We must be people who live by the truth and people of Justice. Everyone who comes close to us must want to come again because they left better the first time. We don’t influence the world with our own ideology. We influence the world with the culture of the Kingdom. We must walk in love towards everyone. Our calling as ambassadors goes beyond the four corners of our church. Our assignment and calling is to the society and the nations. We go to church to be equipped so that we can then go out into the society and influence the society. Our Christianity must not be measured by our church attendance but the life of Jesus we live outside church each day of our lives.
OBJECTIVES:

  • (i) To understand that we are called to affect the society.
  • (ii) Our influence must become very strong so that we win.
  • (iii) How to affect our circle of influence.

Kingdom Influence

Authority

Scripture References: Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus came preaching the Kingdom of God. When man was created, he had authority. He lost his authority when he sinned. Christ came to restore this authority we had in the beginning by coming to restore our relationship we had with God from the beginning. We can now walk in authority because we have been restored back to God. We are members of the Kingdom! We are citizens. We represent the King. We walk in authority to the extent that we surrender to Him. The kingdom is not a democracy so the King’s word is final. We must be fully surrendered to Him if we are going to represent Him. A surrendered person is not a weak person but a strong person. We must come under biblical authority if we are going to walk in spiritual authority. A surrendered person lives according to the word of God. The word of God is the constitution of the Kingdom of God. In the kingdom, we must do what God tells us to do. If we don’t keep His word, we have no right to demand things from Him. We must not bend the rules or compromise them. When we are questioned as ambassadors, we must simply quote the constitution’s (Bible) position on matters. We must make time to study the constitution to know what it says. It goes beyond just reading. We must study the constitution. (His Word). When we make time for the constitution, we can live well in the Kingdom...to live well is to represent the Kingdom.

Kingdom Authority

Expansion

Every King has a desire. God also has a desire for His kingdom. He has one agenda. His agenda is for the Kingdom to expand. As members of His Kingdom, we must be committed to His agenda. Our love for God is seen in our commitment to His agenda. It would take a Kingdom person for the Kingdom to expand. God is going to use kingdom people to expand His kingdom. Kingdom expansion is about more people entering the kingdom and Christ being formed in these people. We must be committed to the King and His agenda. We must not only be committed in heart but also in lifestyle. One way by which we can be committed is by praying for kingdom expansion. We must spend more time praying for the Kingdom than we spend praying for ourselves. Most people pray for themselves and not the Kingdom. If the kingdom is going to expand, we must pray more for that and not ourselves. Another way of committing to His agenda is by giving. The foundation of the kingdom is the foundation of giving. God gave His only son so we could be reconciled with Him. We must not be selfish if the Kingdom is going to expand. We must be people who give our tithe and resources so that the Kingdom will expand. All we have must be given freely so that the kingdom would expand. Our giving is not too small or too big. We must not look at the quantity we give but we must give with the right heart. The kingdom would also expand when we serve. We are saved to serve. We are not saved to watch other people serve. We are saved so we could serve. The Kingdom doesn’t expand by our commentary but by our contribution. We must not be idle in the Kingdom. We must give ourselves over to the Lord. There is always something we can do in the Kingdom.
